Family

This week the children have been talking about their families. Many of the children joined in with a finger gym threading activity to make pasta bracelets for their family members.

The children looked at images of people and cut out the ones they thought looked like the people in their family.

A box left in the quad created all sorts of play opportunities. There were lots of giggles as some of the children sat inside with just their feet sticking out!

Growing Up

In Pre School recently we have been talking about growing up. The children have discussed what they would like to be when they get older and we've had lots of suggestions from a fence builder to a horse rider!

The baby washing activity proved very popular last week as the children washed, dried and cared for the dolls. A number of our children will soon be welcoming new babies in to their families and they talked very excitedly about new names and helping out.

The children measured themselves on the height chart and we used this opportunity to use terms such as bigger, smaller, taller and shorter. The children also had a go at sequencing small world people in order of their height. We will revisit the height chart later in the year to see how much the children have grown.

This week we will be discussing our families. We would like to invite the children to bring in a photograph of their family to talk about in front on the class.

The children have been matching amounts to numbers.

We have talked about bigger and smaller and have enjoyed lots of sequencing by size games and activities.

Faces

This week we have been looking at our faces and their features. We talked about how we are all different and how this helps us tell each other apart.

The children used different toppings to make pizza faces.

The children made silly faces using a range of different materials.

There were lots of face themed arts and crafts available for the children to use.

During a circle time activity the children were invited to use shapes to make faces or anything they wanted.

The children looked in mirrors and selected paints from a range of colours to create their faces on paper plates.

The children enjoyed mark making with pens on a large piece of paper rolled on the floor.

The children made made faces and used cotton wool for hair. They sprinkled on cress seeds and used pipettes to add water. The children will now have to wait and watch for the hair to grow!

Welcome!

Welcome to the Pre School blog. Here you will information about what the children have been up to in the classroom and at Forest School. Information will also be posted here about upcoming events, such as our Harvest in the Woods event next month. Just outside of the Pre School classroom you will find a notice board with information about forest school sessions and key workers.

Our first week back has been a super success. The children have enjoyed exploring their new classroom and outdoor area. They have been very busy making hand prints using brightly coloured paints. We have been playing lots of 'getting to know you' games and all of the children have adapted well to the new routines of Pre School.

Our topic for this half term is 'Family Fortunes'. We will cover a wide range of topics and will be led by the children and their interests. Next week we will be looking at ourselves and at our faces and their features.

Firework Fun

Pre School and Nursery have enjoyed learning about how to enjoy fireworks and bonfires safely. They have also had lots of fun joining in wit...
