Our emotions
During our circle times this week the children have been encouraged to talk about how they are feeling. In Pre School we have used emotion stones and in Nursery the children have used simple faces to encourage discussions. The children were reminded how important it is to tell other people how they are feeling, especially if they are feeling sad or worried.
A morning by the river
This week we have been measuring all of the children to see how tall they are. We then decided to take our measuring outside to see what things we could find which were bigger than 100cm (our metre stick). The children helped to pack a bag and then we headed out on an adventure! First we went to see the pigs and discovered they were smaller than 100cm. We then walked down to the river, pausing to measure plants and trees along the way, for a morning picnic snack. The children all listened well to the instructions of the adults reminding them how to stay safe by the river. The children were delighted to spot a swan, dragon flies and lots of blackberries.

Washing the babies
Today we have been talking about growing up and how we change from being a baby into an elderly person and all of the different stages along the way. The children have linked this to people they know including older brothers and sisters and grandparents. The children have enjoyed talking about what babies can and cannot do and how they are all big boys and girls now! One of the play trays has been very popular as the children have been busy washing the baby dolls with lots of soapy water.
