Leaf Puppets

The children have been using leaves to make some lovely little stick puppets to play with. The children looked at the instruction picture cards to help them before carefully selecting a leaf to use. After sticking on some eyes the children used pens to add a mouth and a nose before attaching their leaf to a stick.

Box fun

The children had a great time exploring and playing with lots of empty boxes. We talked about the different shapes and features of the boxes learning terms such as face, corner and edge before the children were invited to play with them in any way they wished. Some of the children used the boxes as cars whilst others enjoyed mark making with crayons and pencils. Quite a few enjoyed just sitting in them!

Our new pets

There was much excitment in the classroom this morning with the arrival of our new fish. The children have been patiently waiting since the tank arrived a few weeks ago and they were delighted to see the colourful fish darting around this morning. Many thanks to Mr Campbell for making it all possible.

Shape Houses

This week we are talking our homes and what they look like. Today the children used shapes to make houses. To begin with we made pictures on the carpet and then the children were invited to make a house using paper shapes. Adults reinforced the shape names and helped the children to count the edges and corners. The children were encouraged to use positional language when describing what they had made.

Firework Fun

Pre School and Nursery have enjoyed learning about how to enjoy fireworks and bonfires safely. They have also had lots of fun joining in wit...
