Summer Term

Welcome to the summer term! Our first two weeks have been packed full of fun activities. We have been fortunate enough to hatch ten chicks and the children have been helping to care for them. We are also keeping a close eye on the tadpoles, waiting patiently for them to begin to change in to frogs.

In Read Write Inc. we have been looking at the o sound which we reinforced by squeezing oranges to make some fresh juice to try and the c sound which we have reinforced by making caterpillar pictures using water filled balloons (and we only had one popping experience!).

The children used water filled balloons dipped in paint to print caterpillar pictures.

The children traced their names on to paper leaves and used a hole punch to make it look like a hungry caterpillar had munched through the leaf.

When the caterpillar paintings had dried the children used pens to add drawings of the food from the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

There have been lots of free play activities for the children to access based around caterpillars and butterflies.
