Pre School and Nursery have enjoyed learning about how to enjoy fireworks and bonfires safely. They have also had lots of fun joining in with different firework inspired crafts and activities. The children particularly enjoyed using the salad spinner to mix the different coloured paints to create a firework picture.

Making apple juice
This week at Forest School the children have been collecting apples from the Copthill orchard and using an apple press to make apple juice. The children used special safety knives to help prepare the apples for the press. Afterwards they were able to try the juice and kindly brought a jug down to the classroom for all of the team to taste. It was delicious!
Exploring the pumpkins
The children really enjoyed playing with the pumpkins this week. They used lots of descriptive language as they scooped out the insides and collected the seeds. Some of the pumpkins had shapes cut out of them and the children were encouraged to fit them back into the pumpkin.
There will be more opportunities to play with pumpkins next week and we will be using the seeds in some of our maths based activities.

Houses and homes
This week the children have been talking about where they live. The children have looked at images of different buildings to try and spot different shapes. They have used shapes to create pictures on the carpet as well as create buildings with building blocks. Many children have enjoyed junk modelling houses, adding paper shapes as features, whilst the adults have modelled 2D and 3D shape names and positional language. The children have also enjoyed using the soft play equipment to build with developing their problem solving skills and encouraging them to work together to create different structures.
